Is it permissible for a woman of means to offer a sacrifice with her own money on behalf of her household, given that her husband will not offer a sacrifice due to his straitened circumstances, and given that she does not work and has no source of income?

The virtue of the Udhiyah (sacrifice) is immense, and it is a confirmed Sunnah. It is permissible for a woman to include her household in her Udhiyah if they live together under the provision of a single provider, due to the generality of the evidence for this. An example is the Hadith of Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari that a man would sacrifice a sheep on behalf of himself and his household during the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. To avoid the disagreement of those who prohibited this, a woman can donate money to her husband for him to buy the Udhiyah and slaughter it on behalf of himself and his household if he is their provider.
