How can one combine the Sunnah of raising one's garment above the ankles with obedience to parents regarding clothing, taking into consideration future employment opportunities?

"Isbal" (letting garments hang below the ankles) is forbidden, and its punishment is Hellfire. The prohibition and punishment intensify if it is done out of arrogance and pride. It is not permissible to obey anyone in an act of disobedience to Allah, even if they are one's parents. Sustenance is in the hands of Allah, and "whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out and provide for him from where he does not expect." It is not permissible to commit a sin under the pretext of fearing the loss of a job. Isbal is not permissible except in cases of genuine necessity, such as coercion that results in real harm which cannot be averted except by isbal. Raising the garment above the ankles is obligatory, not merely sunnah. The sunnah is to raise the izar (lower garment) to mid-calf. As for a thobe or trousers, the sunnah is for them to be between mid-calf and the ankles.
