Is it permissible to wear ornamented clothes and abayas with embellishments, and high heels, when going out? What is the ruling on displaying one's adornment (tabarruj) in public places in general? What should the questioner do with her ornamented and revealing clothes that she owns? Does she bear the sin of anyone she gives these clothes to who then wears them in front of men? Is it permissible to read the Qur'an in short or revealing clothes, or without a hijab? And is what the questioner is doing considered polytheism (shirk) or a major sin?
It is not permissible to wear 'abayaat (loose overgarments) and khumur (head coverings) that are considered adornment and to go out in them, nor is it permissible to donate them to those who might wear them in front of non-mahram men. They can be worn at home or modified to conform to Sharia. Wearing a hijab is not required for reading the Quran. What you did is not major or minor Shirk, nor is it a major sin.
