The answer

Any wealth that reaches the nisab and a full year passes over it is subject to zakat at a rate of 2.5%. The nisab is equivalent to 85 grams of gold. So, if the wealth reaches the nisab, for example, 50,0 pounds, its zakat would be 1250 pounds. If the wealth decreases, zakat is disbursed from what remains of it until it falls below the nisab, at which point its disbursement ceases.
