Does the description "And among the people are those who say, 'We believe in Allah and in the Last Day,' but they are not believers" include disbelievers from among the People of the Book?

The verse: "And of mankind are some who say: 'We believe in Allah and the Last Day,' while in fact they believe not" (2:8) was revealed concerning the hypocrites who outwardly proclaim faith but inwardly conceal disbelief. As for the People of the Book, the verse "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor in the Last Day..." (9:29) applies to them, because their belief in Allah and the Last Day is corrupt due to their conviction that Ezra or the Messiah is the son of Allah.
