How can the two noble verses be reconciled: (Then they will swear to him as they swear to you, and think that they have something. Unquestionably, they are the liars) and (They will not speak except he to whom the Most Gracious has given permission and who says what is right)?

The various verses concerning the speech of the people on the Day of Resurrection are reconciled by the differing circumstances and positions they find themselves in on that momentous Day. In some situations, they are not permitted to speak, while in others they are permitted but speak only the truth. In yet other situations, they argue with falsehood, and in still others, their mouths are sealed, their hands speak, and their feet bear witness, all to demonstrate the falsity of their claims and to affirm Allah's knowledge of all things.
