Is precision required in determining the time for disbursing Zakat on wealth each year, or is it permissible to delay it a few days beyond its designated time?

It is not permissible to delay the distribution of zakat beyond its due time, except for a valid excuse, such as the absence of the wealth itself, or the absence of the person to whom the zakat is to be given. The completion of a full year (hawl) is a condition for the obligation of zakat, as the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever benefits from wealth, there is no zakat on it until a year passes over it with his Lord." So, once the year has passed, it becomes obligatory to distribute it immediately, and no delay is permissible. Whoever does not adhere to distributing it on the day it becomes due has committed a sin.
