What should I do in this situation? Should I ask for a divorce even though I don't want one? Should I return to my home as long as my husband hasn't confronted me with anything? And if my husband succumbs to his family's pressure and divorces me, would that divorce not be an injustice to me, especially since the reason for the divorce (infertility) is something beyond my control and theirs?
It is advisable to be patient with the harm and return to the marital home. Infertility should not be a cause for divorce, as it is a blessing from Allah that He grants to whom He wills: "He grants to whom He wills female [offspring], and He grants to whom He wills males. Or He combines them [as] males and females, and He renders whom He wills infertile. Indeed, He is Knowing and Competent." The husband should be content with Allah's decree and supplicate frequently, while also taking permissible measures such as treatment or marrying another woman, although procreation is one of the main objectives of marriage. Divorce is disliked in this situation, even though it is permissible.
