Which madhhab must be followed?

There are two types of jurisprudential issues: those on whose ruling scholars have reached a consensus, which are then affirmed, and those on which they have differed, in which case the evidence for the various opinions is examined, and the one closest to the Qur’an and Sunnah is followed, with the aid of what has been determined by trusted scholars.
