Should the foot of the deceased pilgrim (muhrim) be covered, or should it remain uncovered like his head and face?

There is no evidence from the Sunnah of the Prophet for uncovering the feet of a deceased male pilgrim (muhrim); rather, the Sunnah only states the obligation to uncover his head and face, as in the hadith of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning the man whose camel trampled him. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Wash him with water and sidr, and shroud him in his two garments, and do not perfume him, and do not cover his head, for Allah will resurrect him on the Day of Resurrection in a state of talbiyah." As for the feet, they should be covered like the rest of the body.

Scholars of the Hanbali school have weakened the narration attributed to Imam Ahmad regarding the uncovering of his feet, and they have affirmed that the practice is to cover the entire body of the muhrim except for his head. This is also the position of Imam Al-Shafi'i.

As for Imam Abu Hanifa and Imam Malik, they are of the view that the muhrim should be shrouded like any other deceased person, meaning his head and face should be covered. They rely on a weak hadith stating "Cover them and do not make them resemble the Jews," and on the argument that his state of ihram ends with his death. However, the hadith is weak. The conclusion is that the feet of a deceased muhrim should be covered with the shroud and not uncovered.
