What is the ruling on continuing a marriage with a wife who did not abide by an oath of divorce, and he fears falling into temptation because of her actions, which provoke extreme jealousy in him?

A man's jealousy over his wife is praiseworthy if it is well-placed, and blameworthy if there is no suspicion. The wife erred by not obeying her husband in what is right; she is thus defiant (nashiz), and the treatment for defiance is clearly outlined in Islamic law. A woman traveling without an escort (mahram (definition)) is a forbidden act of disobedience. If the wife does what her divorce was made contingent upon, she is thereby divorced, even if the husband did not intend to divorce her. This is the opinion of the majority of jurists. If this was not the third divorce, reconciliation is permissible during the waiting period (iddah (definition)). We advise against using words of divorce to solve marital problems. It is good for the husband to travel to his home country if it serves legitimate interests, but if it complicates the problem further, it is better to refrain. We recommend wisdom and seeking help from sensible people to reach an understanding with the wife. The fornicator is not necessarily recompensed in his family with the like of what he did, especially if he has repented.
