Is watching pornographic films and images a major sin that requires repentance? And how can one get rid of this disobedience?

Watching obscene movies and pictures is forbidden because it corrupts a person, incites their desires, and may lead to indecency. Indeed, looking is the messenger of zina (unlawful sexual intercourse). Allah has commanded lowering the gaze and has forbidden approaching zina because it is an abomination. Whoever has fallen into this must perform sincere repentance by abandoning the sin. A Muslim should not dwell much on whether this act is a major sin or not; rather, they must comply with Allah's command.
