Is watching pornographic films considered a major sin, with evidence?

Some scholars hold that everything Allah has forbidden is a major sin, and a disobedience is only described as minor if major sins are avoided. Watching pornographic films is among what Allah has forbidden, as He says: "Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts." (An-Nur: 30). Looking at these films is considered a major sin because looking at a non-mahram woman with lust, while fearing temptation, is a major sin. Watching these films is even more so, given the prolonged gaze and arousal of desire involved, and the potential corruption that may result. Furthermore, persistence in a minor sin is considered a major sin. It is advised to stay away from watching these films, and for anyone who has watched them, to hasten to repent to Allah.
