The answer

There is no objection to shrouding the deceased, whether male or female, in a garment prepared for that purpose, due to what is narrated in Al-Bukhari from Sahl, that a woman came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with a burdah (cloak), and a man requested it to be his shroud. The point of evidence in the hadith is that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did not disapprove of that. As for the ruling on shrouding a woman in a sewn garment, that is the correct view, because she wears sewn clothes during her ihram, which is the most complete state of life, so it is recommended to clothe her in it after her death.
