The basic principle is that it is not permissible for a woman to seek medical treatment from a male doctor unless she cannot find a female doctor who is skilled in medicine. If no female doctor is available who can fulfill the purpose, then it is permissible for her to be treated by him. He is not allowed to see or touch any part of her body except what is necessary, and this must be in the presence of a husband or a , while observing these Islamic guidelines, even if the woman is elderly.

As for the doctor eating with the family, it is permissible if what leads to fitna (temptation/discord) is avoided, such as forbidden mixing, or women appearing before a non-mahram without , or speaking in a soft and alluring manner, and similar things.
