What is the ruling on circulating the phrase "There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah -I seek forgiveness from Allah, the Almighty -Glory be to Allah and with His praise" in forums, with the intention of reward and merit for whoever writes it?

If the intention behind the phrase "May Allah make it a reward and recompense for you, your parents, and all Muslims" is a supplication for the one who wrote the dhikr, then there is no harm in it. However, if the intention is that one who remembers Allah dedicates their reward to others, then scholars have differed. Most Maliki and Shafi'i jurists believe that the reward of dedicated acts of obedience does not reach the recipient, whereas Hanafi jurists consider it valid and that the reward reaches the recipient, whether living or deceased. This is also the Hanbali madhhab concerning dedication to the deceased, and they have two narrations regarding dedication to the living. It is preferable for a Muslim to keep the reward of acts of worship for themselves, to avoid scholarly disagreement, and to frequently supplicate for and invoke mercy upon the deceased Muslims.
