Bringing a reciter of the Quran during a mourning gathering is an innovation (bid'ah) that was not reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) nor from his Companions. Had it been good, they would have done it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever performs an action that is not in accordance with our matter, it will be rejected."
