Does the menses in which a woman was divorced count towards the three menstrual cycles if her husband left her and went away and cannot take her back?

If a woman is divorced while she is menstruating, that menstrual period does not count towards her waiting period (iddah). Instead, she must menstruate three times after that, based on the statement of Ibn Qudamah: "The menstrual period during which she is divorced does not count towards her waiting period, without any disagreement among the people of knowledge."
