What is the ruling on describing a Muslim as a "Jew" in cases of stinginess or greed?

If a Muslim curses his Muslim brother and describes him as a "Jew," he has committed something unlawful, based on the words of Allah Almighty: (And do not insult yourselves and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames), and based on the words of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: (Cursing a Muslim is an act of immorality). The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade slander, cursing, obscenity, and foul language. Describing a Muslim as a Jew, intending it as an insult or backbiting, is forbidden. If the intention is that he follows the religion of the Jews, then the prohibition is even stronger, based on the words of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: (Any man who says to his brother: 'O disbeliever,' then one of them has indeed incurred it). There is no specific prescribed punishment (Hadd) for someone who says to his brother, "O Jew," but he should be disciplined (Ta'zeer). In summary: It is not permissible to accuse a Muslim of being a Jew or a Christian, and the one who does so must be alerted to his error.
