Is it permissible for a husband to marry another woman because his wife insists on her job and refuses to resign, and he feels that she is ignoring his needs and provoking his anger?
A rebellious wife is one who disobeys her husband in what is right without a valid reason, and his right takes precedence over the rights of her parents. If she refuses to quit her job and move to live with him, she has disobeyed her Lord and neglected his right. The husband is advised to be patient with her and to reform her by following the steps for treating rebellion. An exception to this is if she or her guardian stipulated in the marriage contract that she continues working or residing with her family, and the husband accepted the condition. It is permissible for the husband to marry another woman if he is capable of being just, and it may be preferable or obligatory if he needs it to keep himself chaste or fears committing indecency.
