What is the ruling on blood discharge during fasting and prayer for a woman who has recently experienced uterine bleeding, which is not menstrual blood?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

If the blood discharged does not coincide with the time of the menstrual period, nor does it have the color or smell of menstrual blood, nor is it postpartum bleeding (nifas), then it is istihadah (irregular vaginal bleeding). Istihadah does not invalidate fasting or prayer, nor does it prevent them. The woman experiencing istihadah should perform ablution for each prayer after its time has begun. The blood may be considered menstruation if it occurs for a day and a night after fifteen days of purity.
