The question

What is the response to one who believes it is obligatory to accept the Hadith "He told you the truth, though he is a great liar," even though one of its narrators is a lying devil, and who refuses to deem any Hadith weak merely because one of its narrators is a liar?

The answer

The response to this question is that we did not accept the narration of the lying devil, because he is not one of the men in the chain of transmission (isnad) of this authentic hadith recorded by Al-Bukhari. Nor did we take his advice to recite Ayat Al-Kursi; rather, we accepted the ruling of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, who affirmed this virtue by saying: "He has told you the truth, though he is a great liar."
