What is the difference between Sunnah prayer and Fard prayer, and are there any verses that differentiate between them?

The obligatory prayers are the five daily prayers whose obligation has been established by legal texts. Ibn Abbas

deduced this from verse 17 of Surah Ar-Rum. As for the Sunnah prayers, they are those established by the Sunnah (Prophetic tradition) rather than by obligation, such as Witr, the two Rak'ahs of Fajr, two Rak'ahs after Dhuhr, four before Asr, and two after Maghrib.
