If the deceased leaves behind only his wife, she inherits one-fourth (ar-rubu') by فرض (fixed share) due to the absence of a child, based on the Almighty's saying: "And for them is one fourth of what you leave if you have no child." The matter of inheritances is serious and complex; a mere is not sufficient. Rather, it must be referred to courts for investigation, as there might be another heir, or wills, or debts, or other rights that take precedence over the heirs' right.
