Will one be held accountable – on the Day of Judgment or in the grave – for a sin from which one has repented, and will one be equal to someone who never committed it at all?

Whoever repents sincerely, fulfilling its conditions – remorse for what has passed, abandoning the sin, and resolving not to return to it – Allah has promised him the acceptance of his repentance and the changing of his evil deeds into good deeds, in fulfillment of His Almighty saying: (Except for those who repent, believe, and do righteous deeds. For them, Allah will change their evil deeds into good deeds. And Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful.) and the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "The one who repents from sin is like one who has no sin."
