Am I sinful for continuing to uphold ties with my relatives who mistreat me, despite my suffering from a rare illness, their slandering me, their boycotting me, and their tarnishing my image? And what is the solution regarding my elder brother whom my children refuse to welcome?

We ask Allah to relieve your distress, and we advise you to continue seeking refuge in Him, for His bounty is vast. Attach your heart to Allah, and He will enrich you, freeing you from needing people. If your siblings are mistreating you, they are in error, for severing ties of kinship is a grave sin. If you strive to maintain relations with them, and they insist on cutting you off, then the sin is upon them, and you must be patient with them. Continue to seek forgiveness and frequently remember Allah. It is obligatory to advise them and remind them of Allah, and you may seek assistance from virtuous individuals for reconciliation. You have done well by keeping your door open to your relatives. Abandonment should be considered with regard to its benefit, and it should be avoided if there is a fear that it will worsen the situation.
