What should I do about my oath, "By Allah, even if they put the sun in my right hand and the moon in my left, I would not marry so-and-so," which I swore at the age of 17, and now I wish to marry this girl; is my oath valid, what is its expiation, and is expiation permissible before marriage?

"Whoever swore an oath to abandon something and then did it, has broken his oath and must offer expiation. Breaking the oath may be preferable if the matter sworn to abandon is good, and marriage is among the traditions of the Prophets, and the Prophet, peace be upon him, encouraged it. Therefore, there is no harm in marrying the girl the person desires and offering expiation for his oath. Expiation becomes due upon breaking the oath, and it is permissible to perform it before breaking the oath."
