Did the triple divorce occur during the husband's extreme anger, and is it necessary to marry another man and then divorce him in order to return to the first husband after the third divorce?

The divorce of an extremely angry person who is unaware of what he is saying, or someone afflicted with schizophrenia, is not considered valid. This is because Islamic law stipulates consciousness and awareness for a divorce to take effect. If the illness affects one's mental faculties, the divorce does not occur. However, if the mind is not affected, then the divorce is valid. If the wife desires separation, the husband can divorce her consciously, or a khulʿ (divorce at the wife's instance) can take place in exchange for her relinquishing the mahr (dowry). If the husband refuses divorce or khulʿ, the wife should refer the matter to a Muslim judge or an Islamic center, which will compel the husband to divorce or grant khulʿ. It is permissible to resort to secular courts to document the ruling after it has been issued according to Islamic law.
