Why did Allah give us body hair and pubic hair if He wants us to remove them, and why did He give us acne?

There is no doubt that the creation of hair on the mustache, armpits, and pubic area holds profound wisdom, even if we are not specialists in anatomy or privy to reliable scientific studies on the matter. For one who knows nothing, let him say, "Allah knows best"; for it is a part of knowledge for a person to say, regarding what he does not know, "Allah knows best."

It suffices for the seeker of truth to measure what he is ignorant of in creation against what he knows. Just as a person sees in his body organs without which his life cannot be upright, so too there is profound wisdom in what he is ignorant of regarding the functions of certain parts of his body. Ignorant people have criticized armpit, pubic, nasal, and knee hair, but wisdom does not necessarily have to be fully known to humans. The example given by Ibn al-Qayyim illustrates that one who lacks knowledge of the intricacies of crafts should not object to their masters. What then of Him whose wisdom astounds minds? Whoever thinks he can measure Allah's wisdom with the scale of his own intellect is among the most ignorant of the ignorant.

As for the command to shave this hair, it is for an obvious wisdom. Leaving it makes the appearance ugly and the smell bad, and its removal ensures complete cleanliness and a good appearance, as stated in the hadith of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him).

Even if we are ignorant of the wisdom behind the creation of this hair or the command to shave it, it suffices for a Muslim to know that he is tested and tried with commands and prohibitions. The perfection of his Islam lies in his submission to Allah's religion and his obedience, even if he is ignorant of the wisdom. The same can be said about acne; the scientific reasons for its appearance can be found in specialized books, but for religious wisdom, it suffices for us to know that it is created, and one is tested and tried in this world, which is not free from ailments.

In summary, the perfection of Allah's wisdom, knowledge, and justice is sufficient for a Muslim to attribute to it everything created whose function he does not understand. Just as we do not question the existence of a screw in a car made by a human, it is more appropriate for us not to question anything from Allah's creations and commands, due to the perfection of His knowledge, wisdom, kindness, and justice. So, Allah is not questioned about what He does, while they will be questioned, not merely because of His power and might, but because of the perfection of His knowledge, power, mercy, and wisdom.
