What is the ruling on one who made his wife's divorce contingent upon her leaving her family's home without his permission, and does the divorce count as a single occurrence or multiply with each instance of her leaving?

Whoever ties his wife's divorce to her leaving without his permission using the aforementioned wording, she is divorced with one pronouncement if she leaves without his permission, and his oath is dissolved. Divorce does not reoccur with repeated departures, unless the husband intended the reoccurrence of divorce with repeated departures. Ibn Qudamah said: "If he says: 'If you stand up,' or 'When you stand up,' or 'Whenever you stand up,' or 'At any time you stand up,' or 'Whoever among you stands up,' she is divorced, and she stands up, she is divorced. If the standing is repeated, the divorce is not repeated, because the wording does not necessitate repetition."
