Is the husband entitled to prevent his wife from visiting her irreligious birth family, which includes a sister who practices prostitution, especially since she was raised by another family that adopted her?

We clarified in a previous fatwa that it is recommended for the husband to permit his wife to visit her parents. He is allowed to prevent her if he fears they will corrupt her, and she must obey him. She can maintain ties with them through phone calls or similar means. If the wife's sister practices prostitution, the husband should not allow her to visit. We also emphasize that the forbidden form of adoption is attributing the adopted child to someone other than their father. As for fostering and raising children, these are acts that are rewarded. The matter must be rectified to conform with Islamic law if the woman was attributed to other than her real parents. Allah Almighty says: "Call them by [the names of] their fathers; it is more just in the sight of Allah."
