Do the husband's actions of abandonment, refusal to give his wife and children a ride while giving his married sister and her children a ride, and not asking about his sick father-in-law, please Allah, knowing that the wife treats his family kindly?
Allah commanded husbands to treat their wives with kindness (ma'ruf). Part of this kind treatment is that a husband should not abandon his wife without a valid reason. If a husband abandons his wife for a legitimate reason, the preponderant view is that it is permissible for him to do so outside thehouse. A husband driving his sister and her children is an act of maintaining kinship ties and a good deed. However, he should not refuse to drive his wife to her family's house without a valid reason.
If a husband falls short in some matters, it is not permissible for the wife to reciprocate by falling short in his rights, or by neglecting Allah's boundaries. Therefore, the wife must treat her husband with kindness, advise him gently, and communicate with him to understand the reasons for his abandonment of her. If it is due to her shortcomings, she should rectify them, overlook his slip-ups, and strive to be an excellent wife to him. If this does not help, then sensible people from the family should mediate to reconcile between them.
The husband's right over his wife is great, and she is entrusted with his home. She protects her husband in his absence regarding herself and his property. Therefore, the wife must fear Allah and beware of Satan's enticement by following his footsteps. This is achieved by holding fast to Allah, adhering to the , and staying away from situations of temptation.
