Is there sin upon one who has not visited the graves of his deceased parents and siblings, and what is incumbent upon him towards them, and how can he atone for his shortcomings in visiting them, and is it necessary to dedicate a specific act to each deceased person, such as reciting Al-Fatiha or the Qur'an or giving charity, or is it permissible to combine them in one act?

We remind you of four matters:

1. The ruling on women visiting graves is explained in Fatwa (definition) no. 50932.

2. The reward for good deeds such as charity and reciting the Quran reaches the deceased, as stated in Fatwa no. 31204.

3. Distributing the reward between your deceased mother and father depends on your intention. If you intend to divide the reward equally between them, that will be achieved, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Actions are but by intentions, and every man shall have but that which he intended."

4. You are not obligated to dedicate the reward of obedience to them, nor to supplicate for them. However, if you do so voluntarily, you will be rewarded, for Allah Almighty says: "And whatever good you do - indeed, Allah is Knowing of it."
