Did the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, eat stale food?

The guidance of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, regarding food was to eat whatever was available if he liked it; otherwise, he would leave it. He sometimes ate stale food, as long as he did not fear any harm from it. Indeed, he ate barley bread and rancid fat (butter or melted fat that had changed due to prolonged storage).
