Is it permissible for a married woman to use her father's medical insurance?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is not permissible to contract with commercial insurance companies based on gharar (excessive uncertainty) and riba (usury), except in cases of extreme necessity. In such a case, one may only benefit to the extent of what was paid. As for Islamic cooperative insurance (Takaful), it is permissible, and employees, as well as those covered by their employer under the contract, may benefit from it. Marriage does not affect insured children unless the insurer has stipulated this condition.
