How can sheikhs appear on channels that broadcast inappropriate content, when alternative Islamic channels are available?

This issue is subject to consideration, as it involves weighing the harm of appearing on those channels against the harm of boycotting them, or vice-versa. There is no blame on someone who believes that the harm of participating in them is less than the harm of abandoning them. Sheikh Ibn Jibreen was asked about the ruling on scholars and preachers appearing on satellite channels, and he replied that they are mutawwilūn (interpreters/exercising ijtihad) who believe that their appearance serves the purpose of mitigating evil, offering advice, and educating the ignorant, especially since these channels have become widespread. However, their appearance on these channels entails harm, which is that it becomes an excuse for people of corruption to use and watch them, leading people to fall into evils and gaze at enticing images. Therefore, scholars and people of sound belief advised against appearing on them, and they will find other platforms free from evils.
