Is it permissible for me to raise animals, given that I love them?

It is permissible to confine and keep an animal for a purpose that is lawful in Sharia, provided it is fed and given water, or set free to graze and drink. Otherwise, it would be like the one who confined a cat until it died and entered Hellfire, as stated in the Hadith. It is forbidden to keep what is impure, such as pigs and dogs (except for hunting dogs, livestock guardian dogs, or farm dogs), as well as what has been commanded to be killed, like the five noxious animals: the snake, the speckled crow, the mouse, the rabid dog, and the kite.
