Is walking barefoot a cure for arrogance and conceit, and is it obligatory to obey one's father in his command to do so, especially when guests are present?

One must obey one's father in what he commands, so long as it contains a benefit for him or a valid purpose, and does not cause severe harm to the child. Even if it involves hardship, such as walking barefoot in the house and garden, it accustoms one to humility and self-discipline. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to walk both barefoot and shod, and sometimes commanded his Companions to do so. The questioner must obey his father, honor him, treat him with kindness, and show him humility, as Allah Almighty has commanded.
