Is it considered disobedience to one's parents (ʿuqūq) if one does not carry out the father's commands to perform certain good deeds, such as standing in prayer during the last third of the night and helping with household chores?

If a father orders his son to help with household chores, obedience is obligatory unless it causes harm to the son. If it is difficult for him but does not harm him, then obedience is obligatory; otherwise, it is not. Disobeying his command might be considered disobedience (uquq) if it results in severe harm to the father. As for the father ordering his son to wake up in the last third of the night, one should be keen to obey him, because it is among the best deeds. However, it is not obligatory; rather, its desirability is strongly emphasized.
