What is meant by a woman's prostration to her husband, as mentioned in the hadith—is it literal or metaphorical?

Prostration is due to Allah alone, and it is not permissible to prostrate to anyone other than Him. As for the hadith, "If I were to command anyone to prostrate to other than Allah, I would have commanded the wife to prostrate to her husband," it indicates that prostration to other than Allah is legally forbidden, and that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, did not command the wife to prostrate to her husband. This linguistic style using "if" (لو) indicates the impossibility of the consequence due to the impossibility of the condition, meaning that the prostration of humans to humans is impossible. And for a husband to command his wife to prostrate to him is a command to disbelief and polytheism, and he is a liar in what he has attributed to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
