Can prophets have doubts, what is the interpretation of the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "We are more deserving of doubt than Abraham," and what is the meaning of the heart's reassurance in the verse "but to reassure my heart"?

The summary of the fatwa is that prophets are infallible from doubt before and after their prophethood, and that Abraham, peace be upon him, did not doubt, but rather wished to move from the knowledge of certainty (ilm al-yaqeen) to the eye of certainty (ayn al-yaqeen) so that his heart might be at rest. The saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, "We are more entitled to doubt than Abraham," is a denial of doubt for both of them, and an act of humility from the Prophet. As for the disciples, their question about the table was to increase their certainty and to move from theoretical knowledge to direct observation; it was not a doubt in Allah's power. Furthermore, another reading of the verse "Are you able to (ask) your Lord?" means: "Are you able to supplicate to your Lord?"
