Can Allah Almighty bestow upon one of His saints such secrets and miracles that He does not bestow upon one of His prophets?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Muslims are in agreement that prophets are superior to all other humans, and that saints are not superior to prophets. It is not impossible, however, for a saint to know something that a prophet does not, such as Al-Khidr with Moses, or the hoopoe with Solomon. This does not imply the superiority of the saint over the prophet, as knowledge of specific matters does not necessitate absolute superiority. The miracles (karamat) of saints are considered miracles of the prophets because they are the fruit of their followership of the prophets. However, they do not reach the level of the prophets' miracles nor their degrees in merit and reward.
