The answer

The majority of scholars hold that the waiting period () for a woman who has sought khulʿ (divorce at the wife's instance) is the same as that of a divorced woman. It concludes after three menstrual cycles for those who menstruate, or after three months for those who do not menstruate, or upon childbirth for a pregnant woman. Some scholars, however, are of the view that the waiting period for a woman who has sought khulʿ ends after one menstrual cycle for those who menstruate, or after one month for those who do not menstruate. The waiting period begins from the moment the husband utters the divorce or khulʿ pronouncement, or upon the issuance of the final judicial ruling. The menstrual cycle during which the divorce or khulʿ occurs is not counted as part of the waiting period.
