Is abandoning watching and drawing anime and manga with the intention of drawing closer to Allah considered among the whispers of Satan that forbid permissible entertainment, knowing the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying regarding statues?

The fundamental principle is the prohibition of drawing animate beings. However, prioritizing the overriding benefit, it is permissible to produce purposeful cartoon films and beneficial stories for children. Watching these drawings is less severe than drawing them. Scholars differ on the ruling concerning looking at prohibited images of animate beings. While the Malikis and Shafi'is consider it forbidden to watch them, the Hanbalis do not consider looking at them as images to be forbidden. The fatwa issued permits watching cartoon films and reading illustrated stories if they are free from Sharia prohibitions.
