When and where is the supplication for forgiveness [to be made]?

A Muslim needs to frequently ask Allah for pardon for sins and shortcomings. This has been mentioned in the revelatory texts, both specifically tied to certain times and generally. Among the designated times are: the supplication of the believers at the end of Surah Al-Baqarah: "Pardon us and forgive us," and when recognizing Laylat al-Qadr by saying: "O Allah, indeed You are an Pardoner, Generous, You love pardon, so pardon me," and in the morning and evening by saying: "O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly life, my family, and my wealth." The request for pardon and well-being is not limited to these times; rather, a Muslim is required to frequently ask for them without restriction. The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, commanded Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq to do so, especially after committing a sin, in order to be among the fortunate ones whom Allah described by saying: "And those who, when they commit an indecency or wrong themselves [by transgression], remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins."
