What is the ruling on supplicating with the aforementioned formula, which includes seeking forgiveness for sins that bring about retribution, withhold rain, and uncover veils, and for excess and negligence, and for all sins of the heart and body, and for every sin encompassed by God's knowledge, along with sincere repentance?

What we advise ourselves and our Muslim brothers to do is to adhere to the Sunnah and abide by it, for the best guidance is the guidance of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. He used to seek forgiveness from Allah and repent to Him a hundred times a day, as narrated by Muslim from Al-Aghar Al-Muzani, may Allah be pleased with him. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, also used to say: (O Allah, forgive me all my sins, the minor and the major, the first and the last, the apparent and the hidden), and (O Allah, forgive me my mistakes, my ignorance, my extravagance in my affairs, and what You know better than I... O Allah, forgive me what I have done in the past and what I may do in the future, what I have concealed and what I have revealed...). His, peace and blessings be upon him, seeking of forgiveness was comprehensive and far from artificiality. A person should use the supplications found in the Book of Allah and the authentic Sunnah, and leave what is besides them. The invented form of seeking forgiveness mentioned in the question is not authentically transmitted, and it contains unpleasant excesses and exaggerations, such as his saying: "We seek forgiveness from Allah, a forgiveness that increases with every blink of an eye and every movement of breath a hundred thousand times." If the speaker were to say: "I seek forgiveness from Allah a hundred times," he would have only sought forgiveness once. Among the excesses is his saying: "It endures with the endurance of Allah, and remains with the permanence of Allah," and this is an transgression in supplication. What often leads people into this is the love of rhyming and the artificiality of it in remembrance and supplication.
