What is the Islamic legal ruling on the grave homosexual act the questioner committed in his youth, and is repentance alone sufficient to expiate his sin? What is sincere repentance (tawbah nasuh)? Is he obliged to marry one of the girls who participated with him in the act? Is he required to leave the country where he committed the sin? And what should he do regarding those girls?

Engaging in indecency is forbidden, and the danger of homosexuality and committing it with محارم (unmarriageable kin) is even more strictly prohibited. Whoever commits such acts must offer sincere repentance, conceal themselves and those involved, and increase their acts of seeking forgiveness and righteous deeds. Marriage to one of the girls is not a prerequisite for the validity of repentance, but it is permissible if their repentance is confirmed. As for leaving the country, it becomes obligatory if remaining there reminds one of sins and leads to them; otherwise, it is not required. The girls must be concealed, and their matter should not be exposed.
