Is it permissible for the wife to conceal the fulfillment of the condition upon which her husband made her triple divorce contingent, by his saying: "If you did such and such, then you are divorced, divorced, divorced, threefold," knowing that it has been fulfilled, and can she continue to live with him in his house without informing him?

Most scholars are of the opinion that if a husband makes his wife's divorce conditional upon a certain event, then upon the occurrence of that event, his wife is divorced, whether he intended divorce or merely a threat. Some scholars, like Ibn Taymiyyah, are of the view that if he did not intend divorce, it does not take place, and he must offer an expiation for breaking an oath. As for the husband's saying: "Divorced, divorced, divorced," if he intended emphasis, it is a single divorce. If he intended to effect divorce, it is three. If he had no intention, then it is one. You must inform your husband that the condition for divorce has been met.
