The maintenance of an unmarried daughter who has no wealth is obligatory upon her father and includes food, drink, clothing, and housing, all according to what is customary. It is also permissible for the daughter to politely request additional money beyond the obligatory maintenance. In this case, the father must treat all his children equally in giving gifts, and 'Eidiya (Eid gift money) is a type of good gift. As for Eid clothing for children, its obligation is probable if it is customary. University tuition fees are not included in the obligatory maintenance. If the daughter has wealth, she is not obligated to spend on her parents unless they are in need.
