The husband's act of looking at what is unlawful is a bad deed and impermissible. As for skin lightening, there are two situations: The first is through cosmetic surgery, or by using exfoliants or laser beams. This is forbidden except for someone who has a disfiguring defect or significant harm. The second is by using natural means without exfoliation, such as creams. This is permissible as long as it does not result in significant harm.
